To Walter Sharpes I downloaded you recent photo img_2001 to color.
An officer standing in front of what looks like a piece of plywood
I'm not shure if he has a bandage over his left eye or there is
damage to the photo. Maybe you could reply here…

  • Dennis, just finished watching your video. I can identify some of the people in 3 of your photo's.

Picture # 4. On the left is Alan Jones, on the right is me Mike Rush.

#5  Rick Lloyd from Hartford , Conn. I don't know the rabbits name.

#5a Mike Rush, Dennis Carlson from Crookston, Minn holding the tracking flag.

  • Thanks Dennis, I just watched your video, a great tribute to the 162 AHC! I arrived in-country a bit after you, 12/69 through 11/70, but really identified with your photos, especially of the ones in Can Tho.  I heard so much about Dong Tam from the old timers that I actually felt nostalgic for the place as well, you know, they had more action, got hit more, the girls were better etc etc. I also liked the soundtrack, spot on with the music, all of these were sounds that we listened to as well. Your tribute to those who were KIA was also very well done, many of these guys I knew personally, especially Andy Susi. I flew gunner for a spell and loved the C&C missions, very exciting! Finally, I was moved in a special way by your segment on Agent Orange for two reasons. In 1991 I returned to Vietnam on a USAID sponsored mission to work with the Gov of VN to explore practical ways to assist the many children who were born with various defects attributed to AO. That was a very rewarding time for me. Now, in the last few years, I was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease as a result of my own exposure to AO.  I'm doing OK as it seems to be progressing very slowly and I am supported with $ from the VA. Thanks again for sharing the photos and the memories Dennis,

Best wishes to you and your loved ones
  • Dennis, you responded to my message to the wrong Mike Rush. There are 2 members with the same name. We were both on Padilla's team at Dong Tam.  You were crewing the C&C ship on Thanksgiving Day 1969. You landed to pick us up and a Green Beret Col. and I believe Sargent Major jumped out in their starched and Ironed Jungle fatigues into the paddy. We got your cargo compartment muddy. Anyway, It was long ago and just another day in the Nam. But thanks again. I never got that Turkey Dinner, Maybe I was lucky. LOL.

  • Glad to see another guy I served with on this page. Thanks again for pulling my butt out of that rice paddy on Thanksgiving Day 1969.
